Maroun

Maroun

Meet Maroun, a 14-year old boy who is celebrating in 2021 seven years of cancer survivorship, an incredible milestone.

When Maroun was 6 years old, he was diagnosed with stage IV Wilms tumor. He underwent extensive treatment for 1 year, which included chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and an open heart surgery. The surgery was needed because the tumor clot was extending from his kidney to his heart.

Wilms tumor is a form of kidney cancer that primarily develops in children before the age of 10 with most cases found before age 5. Wilms tumor is first noticed because of abdominal swelling or a mass in the kidney.

Maroun is now a healthy teen. Like most boys his age, he loves playing Fort Nite with his best friend, Joe. Maroun’s favorite sports are basketball and football.

Before his diagnosis, Maroun’s mother had heard of CHANCE Association by way of our calendar. She never imagined her son would one day be a part of the CHANCE community.

We are so happy for Maroun and his family. Celebrating 7 years of survivorship is a HUGE milestone!
