About CHANCE Association

CHANCE stands for Children Against Cancer. We are a team of compassionate medical professionals and dedicated volunteers on a mission to fight childhood cancer and provide children and their families with all the care, support, and funding they need to fight this disease.

With early diagnosis and timely treatment, cure rates of children with cancer can reach 85%. One of the biggest challenges faced by families in Lebanon is the lack of access to proper medical care due to financial constraints and scarcity of medications.

CHANCE Association can help these children, but only with your support.

Survivor Stories

We’ve been lucky enough to work with real superheroes, and their stories offer unique insights into their cancer journeys.  Every child has a unique but remarkable story and there is so much to learn from every single one of them.

Commonly Asked Questions

What is CHANCE Association?

Our mission has always been to give children with cancer and blood disorders a chance to fight their disease. We are here to assist those children by providing them with access to the vital care they need on a case-by-case basis.

Who Do We Help?

We help children diagnosed with cancer or a blood disorder in Lebanon. We offer non-stop support from diagnosis to a full five years post-treatment.

How Does CHANCE Help Children With Cancer?

We treat every child on an individual basis, tailoring our support to cover what they and their family needs. We cover expenses for chemotherapy, radiotherapy, imaging, lab work, and aftercare and work with nine hospitals across Lebanon.

How Does CHANCE Decide Who to Help?

Any child in Lebanon where cancer or blood disorder is suspected or diagnosed can apply for support.  Every case is carefully reviewed by the CHANCE Association medical committee and social services team to determine if and how assistance should be provided. This review includes a review of the medical records along with the family’s personal situation and ability to pay for treatment.

Is CHANCE an Officially Registered NGO?

Yes, CHANCE Association is an officially registered charity in both Lebanon and Switzerland.

Is CHANCE affiliated with any religious or political entity or group?

We are not affiliated with any religious or political entity and are free from treatment bias. We believe every child and person has a right to treatment, regardless of their beliefs or political ideology.

Does CHANCE Give Cash to Patients and Their Families?

Cash is not paid to the family directly. All money for medical treatments and other expenses are paid directly to the hospital where the child is receiving treatment. This means there are no delays to children’s treatment — they can get the help they need straight away.

Which Hospitals Does CHANCE Work With?

We work closely with nine hospitals across Lebanon. They are LAU Medical Center, St. Georges Hospital, Hotel Dieu de France, Abou Jaoude Hospital, Mount Lebanon Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, Clemenceau Hospital, and St. Therese Hospital.

How Does CHANCE Use Donations?

95% of all donations go directly to the support of the children and their treatment. Depending on each child’s needs your donations may be used to cover chemotherapy, radiotherapy, imaging, lab work, and/or aftercare. 5% of the donations we receive are used to cover the organization’s overhead expenses.

What We Do

We help children with cancer in Lebanon to find the best possible care and treatment for them and their families. Using our hospital partners throughout Lebanon, we help children with cancer find the best facilities and doctors. Our mission is to fund the care and treatment for each child so that they have the best chance possible to cure their cancer.

Using the donations of our generous supporters, we cover the full spectrum of expenses incurred from diagnosis to treatment, as well as aftercare for five years following treatment. Our support includes costs for chemotherapy, radiotherapy, medications, imaging, lab work, and other therapy-related care.

We are an independent NGO that is non-denominational and not affiliated with a religious or political entity.

CHANCE is the first Lebanese organization to be a member of The International Confederation of Childhood Cancer Parent Organisations (ICCCPO), a worldwide network of organizations of parents of children with cancer.
